Bipod adjustments play a pivotal role in the realm of shooting sports and precision shooting. The ability to fine-tune the height and angle of a bipod is crucial for achieving optimal stability and accuracy. Whether in the hunting field or on the shooting range, these adjustments allow shooters to adapt to diverse terrains and shooting conditions, ensuring a level and steady platform for each shot. This guide will show you how to adjust a Savage Bipod.

WARNING: Always ensure that the firearm is unloaded before installing, removing, or adjusting a bipod. Always keep the muzzle pointed in a safe direction. Ensure that your workspace is void of ammunition at all times. The magazine should be removed from the firearm and the bolt should be open. The safety should be set to the Full Safe position.

Cant Tension Adjustment

Cant refers to how level your firearm is relative to horizontal when it is resting in a shooting position. Ideally, you want your firearm to be perfectly level horizontally to ensure accuracy from shot to shot. When a bipod is canted one leg is higher or lower than the other causing the rifle to be uneven. This can impact your shooting accuracy and stability because it may result in the rifle not being level with the target. The Savage Bipod is designed with an adjustable cant tension lever allowing you to adjust the rifles orientation to match the terrain or the angle of your shooting position. Properly managing bipod cant is essential to ensure your shots remain accurate and on target, especially when shooting on uneven or sloped surfaces.

Rotate the lever counterclockwise to loosen the head and enable cant adjustment. Adjustable tension allows you to lock it in place or have some slight resistance. Rotate the lever clockwise to tighten the cant adjustment

  2. Reposition the lever and replace it over the lower nut in the desired position.
  3. Apply 1 drop of threadlocker onto the screw threads and finger-tighten the top nut to complete.

Leg Deploy and Stow

Stowing bipod legs (folding or collapsing them) serve several purposes – including compact transportation and storage and easier maneuverability. The Savage Bipod is designed to deploy and stow the legs quickly and easily.

To deploy, simply pull down the leg towards the 90-degree position until the leg locks in place.

To stow, pull down using the thumb shelf for leverage and rotate back to the stowed position.
