This year for International Women’s Day, we are celebrating the outdoors and those who make it a better place for all. We want to shine a spotlight on some amazing women in the outdoors – leaders, role models, mentors, mothers, sisters, and daughters – by sharing their stories, words of advice and encouragement for other women. We want to uplift and empower all the women who share the outdoors. One of the women we are proud to call our friend at Savage is Brittany French. This is her story!

Brittany French

I am the Director of Field Operations for the Pass It On Outdoor Mentors Program.

My advice for women in the outdoors: Look for the helpers. It can feel like you are in this game alone, but there are many good women out there longing for the same connection and support you are.

How women can get involved in the outdoors: I am involved with the Sisterhood of the Outdoors. This group has a mission to connect women with an unbridled passion for the outdoors with one another!

How I support other women: I have been mentoring a young girl since 2015. Every time we go out to hunt, I find new ways to encourage her to stay involved in the outdoors. In today's world, it can be tough being a teenage girl that likes to hunt. I love being able to empower her on how to talk to her peers about hunting and teach her ways to be independent in the outdoors. I often find her mentoring me just as much as I mentor her!

Brittany French is one of the women in the outdoors we are proud to celebrate for International Women's Day.

Savage has had the pleasure of tagging along with Brittany on two whitetail hunts while she mentored teenage girls who were just starting their journey into hunting. Check them out!
